Two years ago, I made a decision that surprised even me: I went back to university. I already had a remote job that gave me flexibility over my schedule. And one day I thought—why not use that time to study something I’ve always wanted to learn? Life is long. It didn’t feel too late. I searched for online universities that offered business programs… and I found one.
Fast forward to now: I’ve graduated.
What I Gained from the Experience
I studied business administration, something I’d always been curious about but never had the chance to pursue seriously. Along the way, I met classmates who were also balancing work, family, and studies—people with the same motivation and goals. That sense of shared purpose and mutual encouragement was incredibly powerful.
Most importantly, I realized something simple but powerful: It’s never too late to learn something new.
What Was Actually Hard
That said, let me be honest: it wasn’t easy.
Weekday evenings were often spent glued to my laptop.
Weekends - Mostly homework and assignments.
Cooking balanced meals - Nope. hello takeout and convenience food.
There were plenty of nights when I felt tired, behind, or just plain overwhelmed.
How I Managed It All
Two things, mainly:
Google Calendar: I blocked off time for classes, deadlines, and review sessions like appointments. Color-coded, of course.
Paper to-do lists: Writing things down on paper helped me stay grounded. There’s something deeply satisfying about physically crossing things off a list.
If you're curious, here is the one I used. These tiny systems kept me from losing my mind.
Final Thoughts
Going back to university while working full-time isn’t easy—but it’s absolutely possible. If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to learn something new, but it’s too late,”—I promise you: it’s not.
Your timeline doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.
You get to decide when it’s time to begin again. Whether it’s university, a certification, or just learning something out of pure interest— Go for it!
